Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Civil Rights Activist Fannie Lou Hamer is known for coining the phrase "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired."

She passed away in 1977 and we as Black people are still sick and tired of being sick and tired.

It's Black History Month, now what?

I work for a non-profit organization in the projects of Chicago and the things I witness sadden me. Our people are suffering. It seems like we are no longer excited about helping the plight of our people, instead we are excited over who got into a fight with who. We work long hours for little pay. We survive off government aid. We pay for high gas, while the nice areas pay for cheaper gas. We get new liquor stores while suburbs get new libraries. The jails are overcrowded with African-Americans and Hispanics. The men are no longer in the community.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Happy Black History Month, now get busy.

I had a chance to visit the grave site of Fannie Lou Hamer in Mississippi. Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

We have work to do.
