City Highlight: Money, Mississippi - Notoriously known for the death place of Emmett Till

In 1955 Emmett Till traveled from Chicago to Money, MS to visit his family. Till supposedly whistled at a White woman at the Bryant Store. The husband of the woman, along with two of his friends, brutally murdeded little Emmett. This case is known to help spark the Civil Rights Movement.

I recently traveled to Money, MS to visit the store. I also went to the Tallahatchie River where they found his body. Check out the pics:

This is how the Bryant store looked in 1955:

This is how it looks today:

You can tell it used to be blue:

I just HAD to touch a piece of American History:

I don't know how busy the town was back then, but it's pretty dead today. This is the view from the side of the store:

Whoever owns this property is just letting it fall apart. I wish it could be renovated and turned into a museum:

This is the Tallahatchie River that Emmett's body was pulled from:

Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures!

  2. Thanks!!! Have you seen the documentary? The sad part about this story is that the men confessed to killing Emmett in a magazine for four thousand dollars... I'm just like you, I get so emotional and upset. I'm happy you enjoyed it!
