Getting motivated...My cry for help!

In the past I've mentioned that my body and health issues are very similar to Janet Jackson's. Unfortunately, like Miss Janet, my weight goes up and down. If I'm working out and eating right, then my body is on point. I have muscle definition, a flat abdomen, energy, confidence, etc. If I'm not working out and eating whatever, then I am extra curvy, tired all the time, etc. I joined L.A. Fitness a few months ago. I was consistent with going, but I fell off within the past three weeks. I don't know what's happening, I'm just not motivated. I realize that I'm wasting my money by not going, so I need to get my behind there. Yes, I work long hours, but maybe I can go in the mornings. Somebody help... I've lost my motivation... *sigh*

  1. I've been right where you are. What motivated me was me writing down goals for myself. I gave myself a due date for each goal. I told myself that if I didn't make it to the gym with in the next week, then I was going to cancel my membership and put that monthly fee in my savings. Start small, even if it is just going during your lunch break once a week. You can build from there. For me it was mental. I was always psyching myself out of going to the gym until that one dreaded day that I could not fit comfortably in my clothes. I felt heavy and horrible. I MADE myself think this: What am I going to look like and feel like 6 months from now, 9 months from now, a year from now. What health problems would I be potentially facing?

I actually started running my stairs and doing jumping jacks before I started back up at the gym. I made myself do that in the mornings or right when I made it home.

I have "Quick Workout" articles on my blog as well as "Work It Out Wednesday" segments. Check them out when you get a moment. http://www.indulgenceiskey.blogspot.com

I pray that this helps you in some way.

You can do it. Just believe it.

  2. I am right there too. I got the point where I was doing great and I don't even know I guess I just got comfortable... I tried everything that Indulgenceiskey was just talking about too. It does help to have your goals written out, it also helped me to put a picture of my body (the way I don't want it) on my mirror. But to be honest the best thing that has helped me by far is to have an accountability partner that has a lot of the same goals as I do. I unfortunate don't have one of those now though lol....if you wanna be mine I'll be your's =))! Hope that helps.

  3. I would suggest you watch what you eat, because even if you are stressed out with work and lack motivation to exercise.Eating whole unprocessed foods in relative portions would help you maintain your weight, ward of cravings as opposed to eating processed foods

  4. I am a workout junkie, but I get super lazy sometimes. The only thing that really gets me back is having a buddy system, as lame as that may sound. If I know my girls are going, I feel like a jerk just sitting at home knowing they're making themselves all hot.

Does LA Fitness offer any guest passes or like a free first week? I'd go with you a couple times if you wanted to. You might also love some of my classes at my local YMCA off Western! I also get coupons for free weeks of hot yoga at the Core Power Studio at Roosevelt and Jefferson on top of the Home Depot.

Also, me and my girls are looking around the city for other gyms offering free weeks, and even looking for dance studios. So fun! This winter is going to be great and I think it'd be a fun way for us to hang.
